Surya Jayaweera is the Head of Strategic New Business Development & Service Innovations at Samsung - Media Solutions Center America (MSCA). In this role, Jayaweera is helping to develop and launch innovative cross-platform services that facilitate a seamless experience across devices including mobile phones, tablets, computers, and home theater devices.

Jayaweera is actively involved within the startup community, serving as an advisor, board member, or consultant for several entrepreneurial organizations mainly in the fields of wireless apps & services, interactive educational technologies, and robotics. He is also an active leader within Tech Coast Angels, the largest angel investing organization in the United States, having recently served as a board member and network president, and has serves as an advisor for the US Small Business Development Center to assist entrepreneurs.

Jayaweera has an established history of developing next-generation tech services. Prior to joining MSCA, he led the service innovations team within the Consumer Strategy & Business Development Group at Research in Motion. Before that, he founded GXB Interactive, developer of the first exciting, curriculum-based educational software for the Nintendo handheld gaming systems. Prior to GXB, Jayaweera founded WolfeTech Development Corporation, the first developer of commercial mobile consumer applications for the predecessors of today's smart phones such as Research In Motion's Interactive Pagers and Motorola PageWriters, as well as provider of customized wireless enterprise solutions for corporations such as The Coca-Cola Company, Merrill Lynch, The National Institutes of Health, Nestle Corporation, and PacifiCare Health Systems. He began his career as a consultant with Andersen Consulting and worked with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as part of the Automated Intelligent Mechatronics and Machine Vision Laboratory. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College.
